             Idaho's Salmon River - 5 day whitewater excursion~
               But first: 
Follow Lewis and Clark's footsteps from:
                       Missoula Montana near Traveler's Rest; to the Three Forks
                      of the Missouri; past where "Sacajawea" recognized her native
                      birth country at the Beaverhead; on to Camp Fortunate where
                      Lewis ex-changed clothes with Camehawait; over Lemhi Pass
                      to strattle a source of the "here-to-fore-endless Missouri River"
                      picking up a vile of water for Jefferson; down into Lemhi
                     Shoshone country where they met Old Toby and Clark does a
                      recon of the river and they chose instead to borrow horses.
                     
After your Salmon River excurison:   You'll be in Idaho's
                      Nez Perce country.  Stopping at the Whitebird Battle field that
                      started the famous Nez Perce War of 1877; on to Long Camp
                      where the Corps retreated back for 30 days and played sports
                      with the Nez Perce; on to the Clearwater River to visit Canoe   
                      Camp; up the Weippe Pairie where the starving Corps limped
                      out of the Bitterroot Mountains; over to Kolt Kilt Creek and
                      back to Traveler's Rest near Missoula Montana.
                      You'll enjoy reading: the journals of Lewis and Clark;
                      and Clay Jenkinson's first book on "The Character of Meriwether
                      Lewis along the way- both highlighting the stops you will make.
